Dreamore, Grow More: A Sprinkling of AI

Using our AI powers "for good" in education, fashion, and MORE

Welcome to our “online community garden” - a shared space for founders, business leaders, investors, and creators.

Our purpose is to help startups grow, nurture relationships, inspire and learn from each other…and do it cheerfully!

We call it “Commerce, Community, and Creativity”.

If you have similar goals, you’re in the right place.

Dreamore is a purpose-driven recruiting and advisory firm, women/diversity led. We’ve built 1000s of startups over the last 30 years and have been featured in Forbes, MSNBC, CNBC, Bloomberg, LA Times, LA Business Journal, Founders in LA, Malibu, & more.

If you need hiring support or any advice around the “people part” of your startup… contact us!

🌍 Connect More

Technology brings us together - but can also make us feel isolated. We’ve always hosted events, and supported other community builders like us, so we can all connect more authentically with each other.

Events in the Los Angeles Area

Have an event you want to share? let us know and we’ll post it here.

Dreamore Monthly Hike & Picnic

RSVP here for our next event on our coastal California land: August 18.

This one is very special! it’s our LAUNCH PARTY for this very publication, our new product/service offering (FounderSuccess), AND coastal approval to break ground for construction!

It’s been a five year process to get to this point. So we’re excited!

Party in the glamping tent! Bring a picnic and come celebrate!

🎧 Listen More

Listening is fundamental! We’d love to hear from you - what are your favorite podcasts? Have you been interviewed recently and want to be featured?

Ethan Cole, host of Founders in LA podcast, is a dear friend and ally.

Here’s his most recent interview with Jessie Somekh, founder of Rotate Your Closet.

Fashion is very important to the dream team around here.

We’ve recruited and advised dozens (hundreds?) of fashion/beauty/wellness startups and hosted the FQLCS (Famous Quality Ladies Clothing Swap) twice a year for over a decade.

Jessie is an inspiring founder and genuine person. Enjoy!

💸 Invest More

Funding is an important part of most founder experiences.

Our purpose here is to bring founders and investors together in a safe space and break down some of the barriers due to bias, lack of knowledge, access, intimidation, etc. Dreamore’s CEO is both a founder AND an investor.

When we understand each other better, we can better achieve our goals.

On that note… are you familiar with SAFE fundraising? SAFEs (Simple Agreements for Future Equity) benefit startup founders by providing a streamlined, interest-free way to raise funds without immediate valuation.

This allows founders to focus on growth rather than legal complexities.

Additionally, SAFEs offer flexibility in fundraising and can be closed easily, helping founders build their cap table efficiently.

Peter Walker posted this excellent information on Linkedin earlier.

Gratitude to Trish Halamandaris, Director of the UCLA Venture Accelerator for sharing his post.

This Week's Founder Spotlight: Cynthia Harrington, Founder/COO Studious

A perfect quote from the first woman to design an airplane - sounds just like any of my startups:

“There is no work so discouraging, so exasperating, so delightful, so mean, so difficult, so exhilarating as building aeroplanes.”

- Emma Lilian Todd

Ten words to describe your business? Discouraging, exasperating, delightful, mean, difficult, exhilarating, worthwhile contribution to users.

What's your challenge? Starting companies is like being on a roller coaster except the climbs and the tops are few and far between! Most of the action is rocking back and forth at the bottom, trying things and failing and trying again. My challenge with that is I am not a patient person. I like to take an action and get results.

What’s a pivotal point that’s defined you? The pivotal point is not one but many – the many times I remind myself of the reality of the roller coaster and then act from that realistic point of view!

Why are you doing what you are doing? Why’d you launch your startup I’m on my 4th startup now and I launched them all because I could see a solution that would matter, that if I could execute, would make the users’ lives better. Right now I have a startup that uses AI and tech to personalize learning which is the true promise of online learning and FounderSuccessTM which gives founders, investors, and startup advisers the tool to increase startup success.

Tell me about a challenge you've overcome? Which minute? The hard thing about a startup is there is a challenge every minute. That’s also the fun thing about a startup. My constant challenge is patience. Things like finding new customers, iterating on product, building teams, hiring the right people and setting context for them, keeping investors happy all take time. Keeping going often in the face of no evidence of success is the challenge I constantly have to manage!

So AI Walks Into a Bar…

BBC, Washington Post, CBS, and other news sources have been reporting on AI’s ability to craft jokes that are (supposedly) funnier than jokes written by humans. Skeptical? Us too.

🏡 Build More

Dreamore is our company, and it’s also a physical place that we are developing on 10 acres of California coastal land.

This section will deliver regular updates so you can follow along with our story - if you enjoy content like HGTV or Grand Designs, this section is for YOU.

After 5 years of process, we are very excited that the California Coastal Commission has said in writing that they deem our project “complete” and confirmed the final hearing on August 8. A few more tiny steps after this, and the land will be fully entitled (and a clear jump in value).

There is an opportunity here for real estate investment. If that interests you, click Build More for access to our business & architectural plans.
